ABOUT KEITH l

Keith L. McGee is the founder and President of The Keith McGee Group, a national consulting firm whose primary focus is the development and enhancement of people, organizations and companies as leaders. Keith L. McGee could be called "The Leaders Leader" because of his extensive background and more than 50 years of combined municipal government, executive leadership and pastoral experience. From hospitality, to corrections, to human resources, to operations and executive management he has thrived in numerous leadership roles.

In 1981 he began a career in government that lasted almost 28 years as a Deputy Jailer for the Shelby County Sheriff's Department. Due to his leadership skills he rose through the ranks to assist in the creation and management of the Departments' first corrections training academy. After transitioning to the City of Memphis as Deputy Director of the Human Resources Division and later Director, he retired from government after serving more than six years as the City's Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).
As CAO for America's 18th largest city, he provided executive leadership to fifteen operational divisions including Police, Fire, Information Technology, Public Works and Human Resources with a workforce of over 10,000 permanent and temporary employees within the cities multibillion-dollar organization. In addition, he was the Mayor’s liaison to the City Council and representative to corporate Memphis and the local community. He also served as the Chief Negotiator for the city of Memphis with over 20 labor agreements and Secretary to the Civil Service Commission for over 6 years.

Keith L. McGee is an engaging orator. He served as the guest speaker for the Fayette County school system Opening Day Summit, Southwest Tennessee Community College Outnumbered Male Project, The National Baptist Convention Woman’s Auxiliary YPD Breakfast, C.H.A.M.P.S Back to School Retreat and the Tennessee Legislative Retreat Criminal Justice Panel.


He served as a consultant to the U.S Department of Justice, National Institute of Corrections where he delivered instruction to correctional professionals across the United States. He has also presented to the University of Memphis LeaderShape, International Personnel Management Association-Tennessee Chapter, Grizzlies Academy, Leadership Memphis and the American Counseling Association.

He previously served as the Assistant Pastor of the Bloomfield Baptist church and the Assistant Director of The Memphis Sunday School and BTU Congress Youth Department and President of the Shelby County Correctional Association.

He has previously served as a board member for Leadership Memphis, The International Personnel Management Association-Tennessee Chapter, Memphis Convention Center, Memphis Urban League, Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau, Riverfront Development Corporation, Center City Commission, Memphis Redbirds and Advisory Council Member Victory University. He recently served as the Board Chair of the W.E.B. DuBois consortium of charter schools.

Keith L. McGee recently retired as the Pastor of the St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Tipton County Tennessee. St. Mark is an amazing congregation whose history dates back to 1872. He led this vibrant congregation with dynamic ministries and a big heart for service for over 23 years.

Keith L. McGee is a native of Memphis, Tennessee. He is a graduate of Thomas Edison State College and has completed Graduate Studies at Memphis Theological Seminary. He is married to the former Natasha Metcalf and has two children Britney and Keith II.
